Expression game
4 to 16 players
ages 8 and up
 54 "Word" two-sided cards
 2 "Rules" cards
To begin, players divide themselves in two teams, each team being two players strong at least."Word" cards are sorted out by colour (white or black) and shuffled. The players draw eleven "Word" cards which constitute the deck. The other cards will not be used. The first team is choosed at random.
The card colour is no difficulty indicator ; it is only there not to play indefinitely with the same cards.
For a longer game, players can draw a thirteen or fifteen cards deck, even more if they feel like spending the night on it.The only rule is always to have an odd-numbered deck, to eliminate the possibility of even scores.
To go on, one of the first team's players turns up the deck's first card.
Then, all this team's players endeavour to find an excerpt from a song, a nursery rhyme or a poem ( for the non-singing intellectual type, but the poem must be declaimed) including one of the words indicated by the the card. At least one sentence must be sung or one verse declaimed.
Now the second team's players must find an excerpt including the same words.
And so on ; as long as each team finds acceptable song or poems.
When a team runs dry of ideas, one of their opponents can begin a countdown starting from ten. On zero, he takes the card for his team.
I strongly advise you to leave your opponent a sensible lapse of time before starting to countdown, otherwise the kickback can be quick to come.
The losing team begins the next turn by turning up a new card from the deck.
To be more precise :
Players sing or recite an excerpt including the english or the french word, whichever they like.
To make things easier, some cards indicate several words : each of them can be used by the players.
Verbs are indicated in the infinitive and can be conjugated.
Some special cards are written in italics : they do not offer words but topics. Each player can then fulfill his heart's desire with, for exemple, Michelle, Suzanne, Lucy, Cecilia,
It is forbidden to sing two different excerpts from the same song for one word. But you can sing an already used song for a different word.
To end, the game stops when the deck is empty. The team which has the more cards has won.
A last tip : be on the ball ! Some players I know easily switch words and make up unheard-of songs with an unbelievable assurance. If the opponents do not react, the game goes on as if nothing happened.
